Grant Hedrick - FD 8900 DK 8300
I never feel comfortable recommending the highest priced guy at a position. It feels lame. Unfortunately, these Thursday/Friday leagues typically don’t offer a smorgasbord of solid options. QB is a keystone position in your lineup so it is important to get it right. On paper, Hedrick easily offers the highest floor and highest scoring potential compared to the field. This one isn’t so much about value because on short nights I tend to shift some focus towards actual points vs points per dollar. Fresno is, statistically, an abomination on defense both through the air and on the ground. I wouldn’t say he is a must start and he has had some duds, but this matchup does not appear to be much of a risk in that area. The highest total on the board at 63 with Boise as a 17 point favorite points to Bronco players getting their Twerk on.
Jay Ajayi - FD 10400 DK 9400
I know, even more lame huh? Well, Jay is a lot like Hedrick whereas he’s the best back on the board both for safety and highest actual points. Plus that other superlatives that Hedrick has going for him. There are few differences. Hedrick is a strong relative the field. Ajayi is a strong play because of his overall package, against any field. Although true, that’s not really why he is a little different than Hedrick. Ajayi is a do-it-all back and option 1, 2, and 3 for the Broncos. He also has had some real duds, but again, Fresno likely won’t have much of an answer for the Broncos offense. Another difference, Ajayi IS a Must Start!!!
Shane Williams-Rhodes - FD 5900 DK 5900
Another Bronco and guess what? It’s for all the same reasons (actually just some). Obviously he is not the highest priced receiver on the board and I wouldn’t say he offers the highest point potential either. The other WRs are just priced too high for my liking. Pitt has really been struggling and Fresno tends to struggle in this situation and are huge dog. I do feel, however, Shane represents a decent floor for the value. Miller is likely done for the season and that only means more targets for Shane. He has produced double digit points in every game this year and surpassed 15pts three times. I realize that’s not All-Star production, but the higher priced receivers leave you a little vulnerable since you will have to allocate a larger percentage of your cap to get them. The big boys don’t offer much safety, but they do offer upside with along with increased risk. There is risk to simply fall way short of value. More importantly though, is the ripple effect that occurs when your big money plays fall short, regardless of position.
Deontay Greenberry - FD 6700 DK 4900
Listen, I don’t feel good putting him on here. But, I'm still doing it. The talent is there. Check his stats from last year. The negative is more about the Houston offense. O'Korn seemed to go backwards and has been replaced by Ward. Ward runs a bit, but their offense has looked better. Considering the lack of "safe" WR options DGB is okay
Chad Olsen - FD 3800 DK 3000
This is a no brainer. Seriously it is. And I’m thankful for it since I loathe picking TE’s more than doing, well, just about anything. I’m not saying he is a slam dunk, but he offers just as much as any other TE and probably more. He has only played in two games so I guess look for news to make sure he is playing. Last week he finished with a 4/55/2 stat line and in week 4 he finished at 1/4/1. Three TD’s in two games, I’ll take it!
