Quarterbacks

Tyler Murphy - FD 9100 DK 7100
So, Murphy can’t pass the ball. Actually, that’s not entirely true, but he did have two games this year where he completed less than 40% of his attempts. But he runs the ball extremely well, averaging about a buck twenty five on the ground to go along with 5 rushing TD’s. I haven’t seen much of Colorado State this year, but on paper they haven’t come close to shutting anyone down. State does have some offense though, so hopefully the Rams can score some points and force Tyler to do more.

Keenan Reynolds - DK 8000
So, Navy doesn’t pass the ball, but the quarterback runs the ball more than anyone else on the team. He averages 21 carries per game and is able to throw when need be. Western Kentucky gives up oceans of yards to opposing teams and specifically duel threat QB’s. You can safely expect 200 total yards (mostly rushing) and multiple TD’s from Reynolds this weekend. Not much upside built in to the price, but the kind of floor you want in cash games.

P.J. Walker - DK 5200
Walker can pass & run. That’s good, I think. Walker is one of the best cheap options at QB this week. His stat line was pretty terrible last week finishing with only 11pts (DK), but Temple won 59-0 so Walker didn’t get a whole lot of run. That will certainly change this weekend when the Owls take on the Huskies from ESPNville. Connecticut stinks out loud, but their D is actually a lil stingy. These games tend to be grinders so don’t expect fireworks, although it’s not totally out of the realm for Walker to go off. At this price, though, he offers safety on the lower end of the pay scale.

Running Backs

Cameron Artis-Payne - FD 7500 DK 7200
Cam’s the man with the master plan. At this point you have heard me say how Auburn likes to the run the ball a few times. It’s still true. The Tigers were a little bottled up on the ground last week, but that should change this week against La Tech. The price is right where it should be. Auburns propensity to run and Artis-Payne’s ability with the ball in his hands makes for a solid play.

Bill Belton - FD 5600 DK 3900
Mr. BB is my favorite value play of the day. Belton doesn’t get much national attention, but its more because of limited volume opposed to lack of skills. Belton is one of those steady production guys that usually stay out of the headlines. He has good hands out of the backfield, which helps his value in a PPR format. The Nittany Lions probably won’t be able to run over Northwestern and I think that will result in a few extra passing targets for Belton. Price is just too good here.

Tevin Coleman - FD 10000 DK 8400
It’s not rocket science to figure out Coleman is scary good. The price is high, but the Hoosiers give Coleman every opportunity to rack up the yards and scores. Gurley & Gordon are also good high end options, but Indiana comes with the least blowout risk of the three teams. 200 yards and multiple scores is kind of a regular thing for Tevin. The Terps have struggled against premium athletes all year so Coleman should get his.

Wide Receivers

Devin Funchess - FD 7100 DK 5200
Funchess, along with the entire team, had a lackluster showing last week against Utah. The hot seat rumors have started with coach Hoke and you know the Michigan players have all heard it as well. QB play has been inconsistent all year. Funchess was a GTD last week and ultimately suited up. His health seems to be all good heading into this week so I think he and Gardner get back on the same page to quell some of the doubters.

Ty Montgomery - FD 6900 DK 6400
He is Stanford’s most electric player by far. The Cardinal try to get Ty the ball as much as possible. They use him as their return man and even get him a few carries per game. The real threat is at his primary position, wide out. Bubble screens and fly patterns coupled with Montgomery’s track speed make him difficult to keep quiet for 60 minutes. Add in the potential for a return TD and Montgomery offers strong value in this price range

Rashad Greene - FD 7000 DK 6900
FSU’s top wide out and will surely get a chance to play on Sundays. I try to avoid taking guys on the road, but sometimes it just makes sense. With Nelson Spruce’s salary climbing to stratosphere levels Greene becomes one of the best top end values at WR. Jameis will likely want to have a good game to try and quiet some of the negative pub of late. Greene will be on the receiving end of Winston’s desires. Blowout risk, but WR is little scarier than normal this week.

Tight Ends

Nick O'Leary - FD 4800 DK 3700
Winston’s second favorite target. Much of above holds true for O’Leary. Jameis wants to quiet people and the best way to do that is perform at elite levels on the field. O’Leary benefits.

Cam Serigne - FD 3600 DK 3400
Want a cheaper option? Serigne rocks the middle on a team struggles offensively, but is way pass heavy. A lack of true outside talent and tons of volume give Cam a pretty high floor, relatively speaking of course.
