Pitchers

Editor's Note: After writing up a full picks article, when I hit "publish" the draft did not save and was lost. I wasn't able to recover it and frankly don't have the heart to go through all of the analysis again. So for the first time in our operation, I'm posting the picks with prices, and a small note here and there but without the detailed statistical analysis. Hope you understand.

Remember at this time of year, with so many teams having qualified for the playoffs, it's a good practice to look at opposing lineups before game time to see if a team is throwing out a punt squad. It's an odd time in the season for DFS.

Adam Wainwright -

Francisco Liriano -

J.A. Happ -

Eric Stults - FD 5500 DK 8000 DD 14950 DFSTR 8800
They are both pretty rough, but the the Rockies are much worse away from Coors and the Padres stink outright. For as cheap as they are I think you can take a stab on 2SP sites in some spots.

Catchers

Yadier Molina - FD 2300 DK 3500 DD 7850 DFSTR 3500
Significantly better against lefties on the year and for his career. Travis Wood is pretty much garbage and the ballpark helps Yadier some.

Miguel Montero - FD 2200 DK 3300 DD 7350 DFSTR 3000
Coming at punt prices for a middle of the order catcher against a weak righty on the better side of his split. Lot of safety built in here considering those factors even if the ballpark isn't great.

Consider Mike Zunino

First Basemen

Jose Abreu - FD 3900 DK 4900 DD 12550 DFSTR 10400
Slaughtered lefties all season and Kyle Lobstein is about as good as his name suggests. Abreu is especially well-priced on FanDuel where he should be a pretty big cash game start.

Miguel Cabrera - FD 5100 DK 5700 DD 12100 DFSTR 9400
I'm willing to overpay some for Miggy mostly because I think it will be pretty contrarian to do so with Abreu's prices and you can get a lot of separation from a premium bat in a matchup against a garbage arm.

Second Basemen

This position is awful today. Good luck.

Robinson Cano - FD 3200 DK 4400 DD 10600 DFSTR 4400
He's so much better against righties of course, but Cano is actually above average on the season against lefties and J.A. Happ is no stud. Considering the prices on the guy you can slot him into cash games even in the reverse platoon.

Rougned Odor - FD 2800 DK 3100 DD 5400 DFSTR 7300
Says a lot about second base that I'm writing about him here. But he's been hitting around the middle of the Rangers' crappy lineup and that's more than you can say for a lot of other guys at the position.

Consider Aaron Hill and Ian Kinsler

Shortstops

Jhonny Peralta - FD 2700 DK 3800 DD 8050 DFSTR 4700
He's been one of the best shortstops in the league against lefty pitching on the season and gets to face Travis Wood who isn't very good at pitching. Like him as a safer cash game play considering his success in this split.

Alexei Ramirez - FD 2800 DK 3700 DD 8700 DFSTR 5700
The Cuban Missile has a ton of safety built into his price here considering he is on the better side of his split against a lefty and hits in front on Jose Abreu who really crushes southpaws.

Third Basemen

Josh Donaldson - FD 3400 DK 4400 DD 9050 DFSTR 4800
Even though C.J. Wilson's been better of late Donaldson's raw numbers against lefties having me buying him almost matchup dependent. (Almost) He's been unlucky with the Babip and still has an OPS over 1K in this split. Just too good to pass up even with Wilson's recent success.

Chase Headley - FD 2800 DK 3400 DD 8050 DFSTR 3400
He's just slightly above average against lefties, but for his prices that's reasonable considering the ballpark. Like, don't love.

Consider Marcus Semien

Outfielders

Andrew McCutchen - FD 3800 DK 5000 DD 11050 DFSTR 3400
He's been among the league leaders in making righty pitching weep this season. Typically a guy who dominates lefties, McCutch has an OPS close to 1.000 on the season and his skill set gives him a high floor every day. The price on FanDuel will have him in a lot of cash games today.

Matt Holliday - FD 3800 DK 4800 DD 10950 DFSTR 9800
Has just murdered lefty pitching this season through and through. The Cardinals are an interesting team to stack today against Travis Wood and I'll be working to get Holliday and McCutchen into my cash games.

Michael Cuddyer - FD 4000 DK 4900 DD 12050 DFSTR 13700
Drew Stubbs - FD 3700 DK 4200 DD 7600 DFSTR 5300
I get that most of their production comes because of their home ballpark, but I think they are somewhat interesting plays today because A: Stults is terrible and B: they will be so low owned that they offer some upside even away from the Mile High air.

Consider Dayan Viciedo and Corey Hart as punt plays
