Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks for ScoreStreak 9/1/14

Total Bases

Alex Gordon
Colby Lewis is dreadful against lefty hitters for his career and Gordon is in a nice spot to rack up a few bases today considering the splits. Gordon has put together a real nice season showing power and an .800 OPS against righties this season. He isn't a huge threat to go deep but he makes up for it with gap power and a fine enough contact rate. I'm really buying on the splits for Lewis as he just struggles so much to get lefty hitters out.

Bryce Harper
Another guy who's struggled against lefties for his career is Roberto Hernandez. The latter is just brutal against lefties and basically has spent a better part of his major league tenure getting abused on that side of the platoon. Harper hasn't had the greatest season ever (putting it mildly) but he's shown some recent success including a couple of home runs yesterday. He's in a good spot along with some other Nats lefties today.

Hits

Buster Posey
Hunter Pence
Not looking for any real mystery here or hidden gems. These two stand front and center on a day when they'll be taking their considerable talents to the mile high atmosphere of Coors Field. As if that alone didn't give you chills down your value-laced spine, they get to face a garbage lefty in Franklin Morales. Morales gets rocked by righties which falls right in line with both Posey and Pence's hefty splits against lefty pitching. Both are much better on that side of the platoon and should be targeted basically in every format there is. Scorestreak included. You can make a case for them in the total bases department as well and breaking them up for one each isn't the worst idea in the world.

Strikeouts

Zack Wheeler
Going to be tough fading both Kluber and Price completely today, and I'll probably have one of them in another spot today. But both of them have tough matchups facing each other's respective teams. The Indians don't K at all and the Tigers are among the best teams in the league against righty pitching. Wheeler on the other hand faces the Marlins who strike out 24% of the time against righties, the highest in the league. Wheeler has a K rate of about a strikeout an inning, and if he limits the walks seven K's is a completely reasonable expectation.

Cole Hamels
The Braves are a tough matchup, but they also strike out at an unhealthy (or healthy depending on your stance) rate against lefty pitching. Atlanta ranks out high in OPS against lefties, but their K rate is well north of 23%. Hamels has turned in a solid season with an xFIP in the low threes and an 8.71 K/9 rate. Again, both Price and Kluber are considerations I suppose, but both of their matchups have me a little concerned.
