Total Bases

Giancarlo Stanton
Doug said it well enough yesterday, so why reinvent the wheel? When Stanton's in Coors, he's still the man. And he's facing a dude who can't pitch. From Doug:

"No surprise here really. Stanton's having an incredible season posting a .970 OPS and that .267 ISO remains one of the elite numbers in the whole game. One of the big breakthroughs for him this year is his success against righty pitching as his 153 wRC+ and .395 wOBA show a dude seeing things pretty well in that side of the split. He's playing in Coors which as we all know has paper thin air and allows balls to travel out with alarming regularity. Don't like him as much as yesterday, but he's still the total bases favorite in the evening slate.

Nolan Arenado
On the other side of the diamond stands young Nolan Arenado, who has blossomed into a terrific hitter this year. His career .384 wOBA against left handed pitching is dynamite, and he'll eat Brad Hand and his 48 Ks against 32 BBs in 78 innings for lunch in the thin Coors air.

Hits

Scooter Gennett
The Scoot Man! A terrific hits play on most days due to the excellent batting average and the lack of walks, but a terrific play against the pitch to contact Vance Worley. Gennett is a total train wreck against left handed pitching, but he's truly elite against righties - posting a .342 batting average and a .387 wOBA.

Jose Altuve
Altuve is my favorite hits play on most days, but he gets dinged a little due to Bauer's K rate this season. Still! You have to love him against a guy with a middling track record of success, especially given that Altuve has had just 13.4% of his at bats this year end in something other than a ball in play. That's downright amazing. Altuve feels like a safe bet for at least a hit every game.

Strikeouts

Stephen Strasburg
Stras is a K machine, and the Giants are in the bottom 10 in the league in both K% and wOBA. Should be a long outing, and when he pitches long, Strasburg can't help but put up numbers.

Chris Sale
The Yanks aren't an especially easy strike out, but here's the case for Sale. First of all, his 158 Ks in 136 IP means it doesn't really matter if you strike out or not, chances are good you are going to at some point against him. The Yankees are also the 2nd lowest scoring team in the AL, meaning this could be a nice long outing, and all of their best hitters prefer right handed pitching. Add it all together, and it's a dream spot to run out the White Sox ace.
