Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings and DraftStreet 3/10/14
Welcome to another blessed Monday. When we all clap our hands, jump out of bed and bask in the glory that is the beginning of the week. I don't know about you, but I always feel like the Phoenix rising on these days. Call me crazy. Add on that it's a Monday in the NBA and Sixers are taking the court. Excited now? I thought so.
Point Guards
Raymond Felton - FanDuel $5,600 DraftKings $5,600 DraftStreet $9,218
One of my least favorite players in all of the NBA (my least favorite is listed further down) Felton along with all of his teammates get the chance to play against the Sixers. We all know the story, the defense in Philly is atrocious and every one of their opponents gets a big bump (like Felton's tum tum) in production. The price is right and he'd need to be terrible to not pay this.
Ty Lawson - FanDuel $9,000 DraftKings $8,000
Price is getting pretty steep now and is out of play on DraftStreet, but Lawson is still the man in Denver. He came down to Earth a bit last night after torching everyone in his return from injury. But Charlotte shouldn't pose much of a threat to his style, except that they play a bit slower.
Michael Carter-Williams - FanDuel $7,000 DraftStreet $13,636
Pretty nice deals considering Felton will be "running" around on the court across from him. The Knicks have been bad all season against opposing point guards and MCW still just plays tons of minutes. The shooting is a real problem but he does a ton of other stuff in the stat sheet.
Chris Paul - FanDuel $9,300 DraftKings $9,400
Gets a great matchup against the face-paced Suns. He is getting more expensive and hasn't had a true break out game in a little bit, but tonight could be it. He was underwhelming when they played last week, but I don't think it'll be a repeat performance. He shot poorly in that game, but the looks were there. I'm expecting a big line tonight.
Kemba Walker - DraftStreet $12,847
What a great tourney play this is. It's so cheap you can probably even consider him in cash games.
Shooting Guards
James Anderson - FanDuel $4,400 DraftKings $4,500 DraftStreet $8,621
We liked him the other night against the Jazz and Anderson will be in our lineups again tonight. The Knicks aren't great on defense and have let up 10% more scoring to opposing shooting guards than league average. Anderson gets his 30 minutes a night and should see plenty of looks against a weak Knick perimeter defense.
DeMar DeRozan - FanDuel $8,300 DraftKings $8,100 DraftStreet $16,526
I have a soft spot for the guy, though it should be said that he hasn't been out of the box lately. I think this is more of a hiccup than anything. Two games ago he couldn't find the shooting rhythm and last night he had zero assists when he normally averages about four a game. Have these two things come together and he's golden.
Gordon Hayward - FanDuel $6,600 DraftKings $7,300
Really love the price on FanDuel today for Hayward. He can be maddening but he simply has too many facets to his game. He can score (sometimes) but the rest of the stat sheet raises his floor considerably. I think the FD price is almost too low to pass up unless you decide to go the super cheap option (completely in play).
Chris Douglas-Roberts - FanDuel $4,000 DraftKings $3,700
Still very much in the punt play territory and is solidifying his minutes in the starting rotation. He's locked into about thirty with the first unit and gets to run with a quick Denver team tonight that is below league average against shooting guards.
Kyle Korver - FanDuel $4,600
Korver is one of those cheap options. We said that Korver would probably see a bump in production with Millsap back (because the Hawks just wouldn't suck so bad) and that played out nicely with a 17/6/4 line against the Clips. The Jazz are about league average against shooting guards and Korver's price is well below where it should be.
Terrence Ross - FanDuel $4,500 DraftKings $4,000 DraftStreet $8,555
Not a bad option if he can get thirty minutes. That hasn't been the case since coming back from a brief injury break. There is some upside here if he can find the stroke from the outside.
Small Forwards
J.R. Smith - FanDuel $5,500 DraftKings $5,500 DraftStreet $9,312
Here's my least favorite player in all of basketball. The worst kind of chucker, kind of crazy (not in a fun way) and just generally apathetic on the court. But we aren't here to root for our heroes. We're looking for value and Smith has it tonight against the Sixers. That he'll see some more of his minutes against their second unit (a cast of D-Leaguers) is even more enticing.
Matt Barnes - FanDuel $5,700 DraftKings $5,400
Jamal Crawford has already been ruled out for tonight's game meaning Barnes is totally safe at these prices. He's been shooting the lights out of the place and, while I don't think that kind of efficiency can continue, I like the prospect of him getting up and down the court in what should be a high scoring game against the Suns. Last time they played he put up 28.
Maurice Harkless - FanDuel $4,600 DraftKings $4,600 DraftStreet $10,077
Is leaving punt play territory but has just been so productive in his time with the starters. Check back to make sure he is starting again if Oladipo is out (or he might stick with the first team anyway). The Magic have been shifting rotations lately, moving Harris to the bench. If Harkless is out there, you can play him.
Trevor Ariza - FanDuel $6,800 DraftKings $6,800
Priced out of consideration on DraftStreet, but could be a bargain on these sites tonight. SF is weak on FanDuel (you get a break on DK with multi-position eligibility) and his matchup against Miami is a tough one. The system likes him, though I would say buyer beware to some degree because Miami is better than league average against small forwards.
Power Forwards
On FanDuel it's the first two guys or bust for me.
Carmelo Anthony - FanDuel $10,300 DraftKings $10,100 DraftStreet $19,911
The top play of the day. Melo could be in line for something enormous tonight. He, along with Stat below, will be huge percentage starts especially on FanDuel and DraftKings. Frankly, they should be about 100% starts even factoring in the potential blowout. This is a weak position tonight and the Sixers are just that bad.
Amar'e Stoudemire - FanDuel $4,200 DraftKings $4,500
A must play. The price hasn't corrected which is a major error on the part of these sites.
Tobias Harris - DraftKings $6,700 DraftStreet $13,089
Came off the bench last game but still played quality minutes. I'm a little nervous about the playing time for Magic guys once everyone gets healthy at once. But I think Tobias is actually decently priced on these sites.
Thaddeus Young - DraftStreet $13,264
You literally never know what you're going to get with Thad. But his price is starting to bottom out here. Scoop him now on the upside.
Drew Gooden - DraftStreet $3,500
Whoops.
Centers
Four quality options here tonight. These four are heads and shoulders above the rest of the field.
Al Jefferson - FanDuel $9,800 DraftKings $9,200 DraftStreet $18,624
Denver has spent much of this season getting blitzed by centers. It doesn't matter if the Nuggets have Mozgov or Hickson against Al Jeff, he'll embarrass either one. Jefferson is my top center play today and with the cheap options out there, I don't think you'll have much trouble getting his and another high priced superstar in your lineup.
Marcin Gortat - FanDuel $7,100 DraftKings $6,600 DraftStreet $14,679
A sneaky strong play against a Miami team that may have a fatal flaw in defending quality big men. Joakim Noah had a moment yesterday on national television and centers have been beating Miami all season. Marcin isn't in the upper echelon of the position, but his prices have him the value zone.
Nikola Vucevic - FanDuel $7,400 DraftKings $8,000 DraftStreet $17,067
Milwaukee is also guilty of having no answer for the opposing big man. Vucevic put up 19/9 in reduced minutes last time they played. He's getting full run now and could easily get 20/10 in this one.
Tyson Chandler - FanDuel $7,000 DraftKings $6,500 DraftStreet $14,786
I'll be interested to see the percentage start on Tyson tonight. On the one hand he gets a great matchup against Henry Sims and whoever else they front him with. On the other hand, he's not the kind of guy who will take crazy advantage of the Sixers on the offensive end. This actually limits his ceiling a bit. Still a super solid play.
