Nick Arbuckle
There are a few ways to go in the upper echelon of quarterback choices to kick things off on Black Friday. There is enough value at receiver that paying up at quarterback won’t hurt your flexibility too much. The trick is where to pay. I’m paying for the very studious sounding Nick Arbuckle. Vegas pegs this game as a pick'em with a total around 60, both are favorable indicators. Neither team is particularly good, but that doesn’t mean we cannot glean fantasy production from the matchup. Arbuckle has thrown for 300+ yards in 5 straight games having twice passed for more than 400 yards in that same span. The Panthers don’t offer much in the way of a running game, but they’re not shy about chucking the ball around.
CJ Beathard
If you’re looking at saving some dollars at the quarterback position Beathard is a good way to go. It doesn’t feel sexy, but sometimes you just need to win ugly. That’s exactly what Iowa has done all year. They win, sometimes it’s ugly, but regardless they win. This also may not feel like a great matchup compared to some other options on the board, but Nebraska has been somewhat stingy against the run while not so much against the pass. Undefeated Iowa is only 1pt favorite at unranked Nebraska with a total just under 60. The line is begging you to take the 11-0 Hawkeyes, but also indicates an upset is looming. Tightly contested Big Ten games often end 7-3, but I don’t think either team has the defense to stop the other team. His price makes up for the lack of sexy.
Note: Tommy Armstrong is very under-priced on Draftkings.
Kareem Hunt
Hunt has looked great in his last 3 games and appears to have settled in as the workhorse after a bumpy start to the season. This is a great matchup for Hunt that could have monstrous results. Over his last 4 games Hunt has averaged 23.5 carries with no less than 20 carries in any one contest. The volume is locked in and the production has followed. In his last 3 games Hunt has topped 100 yards and score multiple touchdowns in each game. A matchup with the Western Michigan Broncos and their susceptible run defense is a recipe for Hunt to continue his recent trend. Western Michigan brings in a very capable offense and although Toledo will be one of the better defenses they have faced I still expect the Broncos to score some points. All signs point to a heavy dose of Hunt. All signs point to an excellent place to start for your cash lineups.
Qadree Ollison
Myles Gaskin
I’m lumping these guys together as I feel they are basically the same player. Both backs figure to be the workhorse in offenses that feature the run game. Allison is probably in the better situation playing as a home favorite against a Miami team that has been all over the map this season. I have some mild concern that Miami decides to show up for this one and plays Pitt tough resulting in a low scoring game, but assuming there are no coaching shenanigans Ollison should see a heavy workload. Myles should also see a strong workload, but could be playing as a dog which typically works against the success of running backs. The concern with Myles is the Cougar offense and not their defense. As long as the Huskies keep it reasonably close Myles will be a strong play as Washington will try to control the game with their talented freshman. Luke Falk could miss the game which would certainly aid Washington’s chances of keeping it close. Both backs are fairly safe ways to go for cash games.
Taywan Taylor
Taylor is a perfect place to begin your filling out your receivers. It’s hard to say he will have the best game given the weapons Western Kentucky trots on the field, but man is this dude consistent. The only thing that has really ever prevented Taylor from hitting value has been Western Kentucky’s potent offense. I think WKU will end up pulling away in this one, but Marshall has the talent to keep it interesting for at least a little while. Marshall’s defense, and not their offense, has been the better side of the ball for the Herd this season, but they also haven’t faced a passing game like WKU’s. I like Taylor considerably more on DraftKings, but I can still envision him make his way into my FanDuel lineups as well.
Corey Davis
It’s hard to ignore the run this guy has been on over the last month or so and this is probably not the time to try. The season started off as the Braverman Show with Davis playing second fiddle to his teammate, but things have shifted of late. Last season it was Davis who paced the receiving corp and now it looks like he is ready to reclaim his spot atop the mountain. Davis enters the game with 5 straight 100 yard performances totally no less than 7 receptions in each. He does have 4 touchdowns in that same period, but failed to reach the end zone in 3 of 5 games. Touchdowns are generally volatile for receivers so we won’t hold the inconsistency against him. Instead we will focus on the receptions a.k.a. opportunity, which looks like 41 receptions in his last 5 games. The Broncos are in a for a fight against Toledo and won’t be able to move the ball as easily as they’d like, but you can bet Terrell will look for Davis often. Braverman makes a fine play as well, but between the two Davis is the guy.
Ben McCord
Jake Duzey
Here’s the deal with tight ends Friday morning. You will be better served making your very own turkey gobbler. Start with some leftover turkey cut into bite size pieces heated in gravy. Add two scoops of stuffing and some cranberry. Shove all this inside a roll and boom, you have a gobbler. Now, if Duzey plays he is who I will run pretty much 100% of the time. If not, McCord is the cheapest of the guys who actually catch passes.
